I remember as a kid going to the mall and looking forward to getting an orange julius and sometimes if I was lucky a pretzel. I always had to share with my siblings until I was a teenager. Once I started going to the mall with my friends, we always stopped for an orange julius and many heart to heart talks. I have not had an orange julius for years and I don’t know if I would even like them any longer. I started making them at home years and years ago. I tried so many recipes before I came across this one. I used this recipe for quite a while and really liked it, but it had some shortcomings. Namely I couldn’t make it in five minutes, it took planning ahead. Once I bought my vitamix I decided to play with the recipe, I could use an entire orange other than the peel in my high powered blender. I also wanted to replace the sugar with a natural sugar. I started changing the recipe and found a combination that I really loved. That lasted for some time, then I started making raw coconut yogurt. I knew that it would be PERFECT for my drink. I think that it just goes to show that a recipe is always evolving and changing. I try not to get too set in the way I make something because I could be missing out on something great.
This is a perfect clean-out the blender smoothie after making this yogurt. I never want to waste the amount of yogurt that is left in my canister. My kids know that we will have a smoothie as soon as the yogurt is made. I don’t know what they look forward to the most: coconut water, coconut yogurt or this smoothie!
