Sorrel Hummus + Chickpeas in a Pressure Cooker

Sorrel Hummus
I am always trying new recipes. My husband likes to joke that I never make anything twice. I do repeat a lot of my recipes but I also don’t want to be bored in the kitchen or have us bored eating the same item over and over. Continue reading →

Whole Fruit Anytime Margarita

Whole Fruit Anytime Margarita
I love a good frozen drink and this has been my go-to margarita recipe since I bought my vitamix. Since it has the whole fruit you are getting the fiber of the fruit making it at least a little healthier! I love making these Continue reading →

Bakery Style Rhubarb Muffins

Bakery-Style Rhubarb Muffins

My family loves muffins and the bigger the better. These muffins fit into that category they have a huge top and a very tender crumb. They remind me of a muffin that you would get at a bakery. Just not a bakery here, the ones that we can buy are quite dense and dry.

I have used a basic muffin recipe from cooks illustrated for years swapping out seasonal fruit. Springtime for me is slightly tart rhubarb; Continue reading →

Lime Cashew Cream

Lime Cashew Cream
This cashew cream is a great sauce that can be used to replace dairy. I like to use it to replace sour cream when I make Mexican food to top tacos and taco salad. It is also a great cream replacement in soups. I like to add a swirl to the top of my bowl, not only does the sauce make it creamy it looks pretty swirled on top. Continue reading →

Key Lime Rice Krispie Treats

Key Lime Rice Krispie Treats
When my husband first grabbed one of these rice krispies and took a bite his face was priceless. He looked at me oddly and stated ‘why do I ever think you will make something simple?’. I guess he was expecting plain rice krispie treats. Considering that I have never made them in almost 13 years of marriage I don’t know why he thought I would start now! Continue reading →

Creamsicle Steel-Cut Oatmeal

Creamsicle Oatmeal
My husband jokes that I will add citrus to anything, and while he isn’t completely wrong there are certain things that even I won’t add it to….even if nothing comes to mind at the moment. I always have some type of citrus in our crisper and during the winter I normally have five plus types of citrus. I just love all of it. Oranges, blood oranges, lemons, meyer lemons, Continue reading →

Orange-Mascarpone Pasta

Orange-Mascarpone Pasta with figs and crispy pancetta

My husband and I went out to dinner before Christmas at an Italian restaurant. The menu had quite a few good options. One dish that caught my eye was a pasta that had mascarpone cheese, figs, orange, prosciutto and the deal breaker – goat cheese. That is one cheese that I just can not eat, as soon as I see it in a dish on a menu the dish is instantly out of the running. We ended up getting their special for the night, it was a perfect choice our pizza was delicious. I would happily return for the pizza and our calamari starter again. Continue reading →

Whole Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Whole Orange Creamsicle Smoothie
I remember as a kid going to the mall and looking forward to getting an orange julius and sometimes if I was lucky a pretzel. I always had to share with my siblings until I was a teenager. Once I started going to the mall with my friends, we always stopped for an orange julius and many heart to heart talks. I have not had an orange julius for years and I don’t know if I would even like them any longer. I started making them at home years and years ago. I tried so many recipes before I came across this one. Continue reading →

Blueberry Blood Orange Baked Oatmeal

Baked Blueberry Blood Orange Oatmeal

I make oatmeal at least twice a month, usually more often. It makes a great breakfast and we always have leftovers for a morning or two. We enjoy baked oatmeal with fruit in it, I love that it is a one dish breakfast that has both a fruit and a whole grain. I prefer making baked oatmeal on Sunday mornings when we are not rushed, the girls love to help mix and we have time to relax while the oatmeal bakes. And I know that I have Monday morning breakfast made! It makes the start to the week a little easier. Continue reading →

A Bright Winter Appetizer

Burrata with Blood Orange
I have been a HUGE fan of Yotam Ottolenghi since I first picked up his book Plenty. I have a shelf solely for Ottolenghi books in my bookcase, the books themselves are works of art. If you have never had the pleasure of looking through his books – Stop reading this and go to the library or bookstore and read one. Continue reading →
